Writing updates is a bit of a challenge when you’re not used to talking about yourself or writing in a diary. I’d rather be out doing and then home sleeping. I’ve been working a lot. I work by day in a big box retail store interacting and working with all kinds of people, and when I’m not there, I’m still working on designs for clients. If I’m not working, I’m doing schoolwork (the word work is still in there!) to keep my design skills up to snuff. I just picked up a client a few weeks ago, and I’ve been busy updating their website and developing a strategical attack on their branding and identity. I wish I could do it all the time :D.
My client is currently using Joomla, so I am getting used to working with that. Coincidentally, I am in a Joomla class this term, so I get to learn by doing and learn by being taught at the same time. I think that’s a great way to learn… albeit frustrating at times. My frustration comes in because I am pretty good with coding, and there is some terminology that the CMSs use that just seems a little weird to me.
My client is also having me work on a full rebranding. A logo, visual style, typeface, the whole 9 yards. They even wanted a character mascot, kind of like the Michelin Man or Homer D. Poe, and that was what I worked on yesterday and today… it was so fun!! And I did all that work from the comfort of my bed!
I’m actually going to be working onsite tomorrow… so I need to log off. I hope that as I post more, I get better at it.
